Designed for storage-intensive enterprise and data centre environments, the Dell PowerEdge R760xd2 Rack Server is a highly configurable 16th Generation 2U dual-socket server combining Intel Xeon processing, DDR5 memory, exceptional storage density and enterprise-class expansion. Available from EuroPC as a configure-your-own barebone server, this R760xd2 configuration features 24 × 3.5-inch Hot-Swap SAS/SATA bays, an additional 4 × 3.5-inch rear Hot-Swap SAS/SATA bays and an integrated Dell BOSS-N1 boot solution, making it particularly well suited to backup, archive, software-defined storage, file services, virtualisation, analytics and large data repositories.
The Dell PowerEdge R760xd2 supports up to two 4th or 5th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, delivering substantial multi-core and multi-threaded performance for demanding enterprise workloads. Its dual-socket architecture provides the compute capacity required for environments where large-scale storage must be combined with virtualisation, data processing, databases and other business-critical applications.
Storage capacity is one of the key strengths of this configuration. The R760xd2 provides 24 × 3.5-inch Hot-Swap SAS/SATA drive bays across the front and mid storage sections, comprising 12 front and 12 mid bays. This high-density design allows large numbers of enterprise HDDs or SSDs to be installed within a compact 2U rack footprint, making the server an excellent choice for high-capacity backup repositories, archive storage, file servers, media storage and software-defined storage platforms.
In addition to the main 24-bay storage configuration, this server includes a further 4 × 3.5-inch rear Hot-Swap SAS/SATA drive bays. These additional rear bays provide valuable extra capacity without consuming the primary front or mid storage positions, giving organisations greater flexibility when designing large-capacity storage pools and tiered storage configurations.
An integrated Dell BOSS-N1 boot solution provides dedicated support for compatible M.2 NVMe boot storage, allowing the operating system to be separated from the main SAS/SATA data arrays. This helps preserve the 3.5-inch drive bays for application and business data while providing a dedicated platform for operating system storage. M.2 SSDs should be selected separately unless specifically stated as included.
With 16 DDR5 RDIMM slots and support for up to 1.5TB of DDR5 ECC Registered memory, dependent on processor configuration, the PowerEdge R760xd2 provides the memory bandwidth and capacity required for demanding enterprise applications. DDR5 ECC memory makes the platform particularly well suited to virtual machines, storage services, databases, analytics and memory-intensive workloads where reliability and data integrity are essential.
Flexible storage controller options allow the R760xd2 to be configured around different capacity, performance and redundancy requirements. Compatible Dell PERC RAID and HBA solutions, including PERC H965i, H755, H355 and HBA355i options, provide extensive support for enterprise SAS and SATA storage configurations.
Built on Dell's 16th Generation PowerEdge architecture, the R760xd2 provides high-bandwidth PCIe expansion for compatible storage controllers, network adapters and other enterprise hardware. This flexibility allows the system to be tailored for high-capacity storage, virtualisation, backup infrastructure and other data-intensive deployments.
Networking flexibility is provided by 2 × integrated 1GbE RJ45 ports together with support for an OCP 3.0 network adapter and Low Profile PCIe networking options. This allows the R760xd2 to be configured for general business networking, high-speed storage traffic, virtualisation environments and other demanding data centre applications.
Advanced remote server administration is provided through Dell iDRAC9 and OpenManage, enabling remote monitoring, deployment, diagnostics, firmware management and lifecycle administration. These integrated management technologies help simplify day-to-day server operations while reducing the need for physical access to systems installed within the data centre.
Designed for reliable continuous operation, the Dell PowerEdge R760xd2 supports redundant Hot-Plug power supplies, Hot-Swap storage and enterprise-class cooling.
