What processors does the R670 support?
Up to two Intel® Xeon® 6 processors. P-core SKUs range from 8-core/150 W parts up to the 86-core/172-thread 6787P; E-core SKUs scale up to 144 cores per socket for throughput-dense, scale-out workloads. Memory speed depends on the processor and DIMM configuration, with supported speeds up to 6400 MT/s; some E-core configurations are limited to 5600 MT/s. Exact SKU availability changes over time — check the current configurator or spec sheet before ordering.
How much memory can it take?
32 DDR5 RDIMM slots (up to 6400 MT/s, ECC). Maximum capacity depends on the CPU family — up to 8 TB with P-core processors or up to 2 TB with E-core processors. Supported configurations do not require all 32 slots to be populated. DIMM population must follow Dell's supported population rules; mixing unsupported DIMM types, capacities or ranks isn't supported, and DIMMs are not hot-pluggable.
What storage options are available?
Front bays support up to 20× EDSFF E3.S Gen5 NVMe, up to 10× 2.5″ SAS/SATA, or up to 8× 2.5″ Universal (mixed SAS/SATA + NVMe). Select chassis also add up to 2× EDSFF E3.S NVMe at the rear. There's no 3.5″ drive option on this platform.
Which RAID controllers are supported?
PERC 12 H365i, H965i or H975i internally (H975i needs VMware ESXi 9.0+), plus H965e or HBA465e for external attachment. Boot is handled separately via the BOSS-N1 hardware RAID 1 M.2 module or a non-RAID M.2 Interposer card. Software RAID isn't offered on this platform.

Yes — up to 3× NVIDIA L4 24 GB single-width GPUs (72 W each, no auxiliary power cable required), plus optional NVIDIA BlueField-3 DPUs (2×200 GbE or 1×400 GbE) for network, storage and security offload.
What's the difference between the Front I/O and Rear I/O configurations?
Rear I/O is the standard layout, with networking, PSUs and the management port at the back of the chassis. Front I/O relocates the PCIe risers, OCP NIC and management port to the front, so the server can be fully cabled and serviced from the cold aisle — useful where rear rack access is limited.
What power supply options are there?
Up to two hot-plug AC or DC PSUs are supported, with 800 W, 1100 W and 1500 W Platinum/Titanium mixed-mode units forming the core range. Higher-wattage and DC-input options (up to 1800 W, including HVDC/277 V variants) are available on select configurations. Redundant and non-redundant PSU configurations are supported. Cooling is via up to four hot-swap dual-fan modules, with optional Direct Liquid Cooling for supported CPUs.
