The Dell PowerEdge R640 Rack Server is a compact and powerful 14th Generation 1U dual-socket enterprise server designed for virtualisation, databases, application hosting, cloud infrastructure and demanding business workloads. Available from EuroPC as a customisable barebone server, the PowerEdge R640 can be configured online with your choice of compatible processors, memory, storage, RAID and networking options to create a system tailored to your exact requirements.
Built around an 8 x 2.5" SAS/SATA hot-swap drive bay chassis, the Dell PowerEdge R640 provides excellent storage flexibility within a space-efficient 1U rack footprint. Hot-swappable drive bays allow enterprise HDDs and SSDs to be replaced or upgraded with minimal disruption, making the platform well suited to virtualisation hosts, database servers, application platforms and general-purpose data centre workloads.
The Dell PowerEdge R640 supports up to two 1st and 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, providing substantial multi-core processing capability for enterprise environments. Its dual-socket architecture allows organisations to scale compute resources to suit demanding workloads including VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Proxmox VE, SQL Server, ERP applications and private cloud infrastructure.
With support for up to 24 DDR4 ECC RDIMM/LRDIMM memory slots, the PowerEdge R640 provides the capacity and bandwidth required for memory-intensive business applications and large virtual machine deployments. ECC memory helps maintain system stability and data integrity, while high-capacity memory configurations make the R640 an excellent platform for consolidation and enterprise virtualisation.
Flexible storage and RAID options allow the server to be configured for performance, capacity or redundancy requirements. Depending on your selected specification, the R640 can be equipped with compatible enterprise SAS or SATA HDDs and SSDs together with Dell PERC hardware RAID controllers for enhanced storage management, resilience and data protection.
The compact 1U rack server design helps maximise compute density while minimising rack space. Support for multiple PCIe expansion slots and high-speed network adapters provides additional flexibility for storage controllers, networking and other enterprise expansion requirements.
Advanced server administration is provided through Dell iDRAC9 and OpenManage, enabling secure remote monitoring, deployment, diagnostics, firmware management and lifecycle administration.
