Designed for modern enterprise, data centre and cloud environments, the Dell PowerEdge R470 Rack Server is a highly configurable 17th Generation 1U single-socket server combining Intel Xeon 6 processing, high-speed DDR5 memory and PCIe Gen5 expansion within a compact rack footprint. Available from EuroPC as a configure-your-own barebone server, this R470 chassis features 8 × 2.5-inch Hot-Swap SAS/SATA drive bays, making it an excellent platform for virtualisation, application hosting, databases, private cloud, business infrastructure and general-purpose enterprise computing.
The Dell PowerEdge R470 supports one Intel Xeon 6 processor, with platform support for both P-core and E-core processor families. This allows the server to be configured around different workload requirements, from high-density and efficiency-focused infrastructure through to demanding application, database and virtualisation environments requiring strong per-core performance.
This chassis provides 8 × 2.5-inch Hot-Swap SAS/SATA drive bays, offering a flexible storage platform for compatible enterprise HDD and SSD configurations. The 2.5-inch storage format is particularly well suited to virtual machines, databases, application servers, transactional workloads and business storage where performance, serviceability and storage density are important.
Compatible Dell PERC RAID and HBA solutions can be selected according to the required performance, capacity and redundancy level. This allows storage protection and controller functionality to be tailored to the deployment rather than being fixed to a predetermined configuration. RAID controllers, drives and other configurable components are not included unless specifically selected as part of the server configuration.
The PowerEdge R470 platform also supports an optional Dell BOSS-N1 boot solution, allowing compatible boot storage to be separated from the main SAS/SATA drive array. This can help preserve the primary 2.5-inch bays for application and business data. BOSS-N1 and associated boot drives are not included unless specifically selected.
With 16 DDR5 RDIMM slots and memory speeds of up to 6400 MT/s, the PowerEdge R470 provides substantial memory bandwidth for modern enterprise workloads. Maximum memory capacity depends on processor type, with support for up to 4TB with compatible P-core processors or up to 1TB with compatible E-core processors.
Modern PCIe Gen5 expansion provides high-bandwidth connectivity for compatible storage controllers, network adapters and other enterprise hardware. Support for Full Height PCIe expansion gives organisations additional flexibility when tailoring the R470 for networking, storage and specialised infrastructure requirements.
Flexible networking can be configured through the server's OCP 3.0 connectivity and compatible PCIe network adapters, allowing the PowerEdge R470 to be equipped for high-speed virtualisation traffic, storage networking, private cloud connectivity and other data-intensive enterprise applications.
Advanced remote server administration is provided through Dell iDRAC10 and OpenManage, enabling remote monitoring, deployment, diagnostics, firmware management and lifecycle administration. These integrated management technologies help IT teams simplify day-to-day operations while reducing the need for physical access to systems installed within the data centre.
