The Dell PowerEdge R450 Rack Server is a compact 15th Generation 1U dual-socket server designed for virtualisation, application hosting, databases, infrastructure services and general-purpose business workloads. This configuration features an Intel Xeon Gold 5315Y 8-Core processor, 128GB DDR4 ECC memory, 4 x 1.6TB SAS SSDs and a Dell PERC H755 Front RAID Controller, delivering strong enterprise performance and storage capability in a space-efficient 1U platform.
Built around an 8 x 2.5" SAS/SATA hot-swap drive bay chassis, this PowerEdge R450 provides flexible enterprise storage expansion while maintaining excellent rack density. The fitted 4 x 1.6TB 2.5" SAS Mixed-Use SSDs provide 6.4TB of raw solid-state storage capacity, making the server well suited to workloads that benefit from fast application response, dependable storage performance and higher endurance than general-purpose SSDs.
Storage is managed by the Dell PERC H755 Front RAID Controller, providing enterprise hardware RAID functionality, flexible array configuration and improved data protection. The R450 platform supports a range of RAID configurations, allowing storage to be tailored for performance, redundancy or capacity depending on deployment requirements.
This configuration includes 128GB DDR4 3200MHz ECC RDIMM memory installed as 8 x 16GB modules. Combined with the Intel Xeon Gold 5315Y processor, the system provides a strong balance of compute performance and memory capacity for virtual machines, business applications, database services, file services and general server consolidation.
Network connectivity is provided by a Broadcom 5720 Quad-Port 1GbE OCP 3.0 network adapter, offering four Gigabit Ethernet ports for flexible network configuration, redundancy and workload separation. The PowerEdge R450 also benefits from Dell's OCP 3.0 networking architecture, helping simplify network upgrades and serviceability.
Built on Dell's 15th Generation PowerEdge architecture, the R450 supports PCIe Gen4 expansion, high-speed DDR4 ECC memory and integrated iDRAC9 remote management. Dell iDRAC9 enables administrators to remotely monitor server health, manage hardware, perform updates and troubleshoot systems without requiring physical access to the server.
Power is supplied by dual 1100W hot-plug redundant power supplies, helping improve resilience and availability in business-critical environments. If one PSU fails, the remaining unit can continue powering the system while the failed supply is replaced, depending on the configured power load.
Supplied with no operating system, the Dell PowerEdge R450 can be configured for a wide range of enterprise environments, including Microsoft Windows Server, VMware ESXi, Proxmox VE and supported Linux distributions. Its combination of compact 1U design, enterprise RAID, SAS SSD storage, ECC memory and remote management makes it an excellent choice for small and medium-sized businesses, branch offices, hosting environments and data centres.
