ISO Approved
Comprised of a network of the national standards institutes of 157 countries, with a Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, that coordinates the system, the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world's largest developer and publisher of International Standards.
The ISO is a non-governmental organisation that forms a bridge between the public and private sectors. On the one hand, many of its member institutes are part of the governmental structure of their countries, or are mandated by their government. On the other hand, other members have their roots uniquely in the private sector, having been set up by national partnerships of industry associations. Therefore, ISO enables a consensus to be reached on solutions that meet both the requirements of business and the broader needs of society.
When products and services meet our expectations, we tend to take this for granted and be unaware of the role of standards. However, when standards are absent, we soon notice. We soon care when products turn out to be of poor quality, do not fit, are incompatible with equipment that we already have, are unreliable or dangerous. Standards ensure desirable characteristics of products and services such as quality, environmental friendliness, safety, reliability, efficiency and interchangeability - and at an economical cost.
Europc were awarded the ISO9001:2000 award in 2006. Subsequently EuroPC achieved re-certification to the new version of the standard ISO9001:2008 in February 2009, among the first companies to achieve this. The auditors report was extremely positive and noted that customer focus was evident at all levels within the company, with a large proportion of our business based on repeat customers or referrals. It was also indicated that our internal auditing and management reviews are comprehensive and effective, and strongly focused on identifying opportunities for improvement. No nonconformities were identified within the report.
Other areas in which we excelled included our strong communications and high staff retention and morale rate, as well as the encouraging outcome of Dells (one of our main suppliers) own audit.
Investors in People Approved
The Investors in People Standard is a business improvement tool designed to advance an organisation's performance through its people. Developed in 1990 by a partnership of leading businesses and national organisations, the Standard helps organisations to improve performance and realise objectives through the management and development of their people. Since it was developed, the Standard has been reviewed every three years to ensure that it remains relevant, accessible and attractive to all.
Initially the Standard was administered through a section in the Department for Education and Employment (DfEE). As demand for and interest in the Standard grew, the section became Investors in People UK. Although the company is by definition UK based and orientated in its operations, interest from overseas has given the Standard an international dimension, both in terms of protection and development.
Investors in People provides a flexible framework, which any organisation can adapt for its own requirements. It mirrors the business planning cycle (Plan, Do, Review), making it clear for organisations to follow and implement in their own planning cycle.
Europc were accredited as an Investor in People in 2005 and successfully achieved re-certification in 2009. This status is very important to us as it marks our commitment to training, people development and a positive learning culture for the company. We understand that a happy workforce is a productive workforce.
Teachers Awards Sponsors
Managed by the Teachers Awards Trust and established in 1998 by Lord Puttnam CBE, the Teaching Awards are held annually to publicly acknowledge and celebrate the crucial role that teachers play in the lives of our children and the future of our nation. As commented by Lord Puttnam of Queensgate CBE, The Teaching Awards provides a unique opportunity for us to celebrate those who, tirelessly and often selflessly, dedicate their lives to securing a future for the next generation"
Open to every education establishment in England, Wales and Northern Ireland that teaches pupils aged between three and 18, these awards are supported by all of the main political parties. Support also comes from the Department for Education and Skills in England, the Department of Education in Northern Ireland and the Welsh Assembly Government as well as all the major teaching unions and associations.
The joy of these awards is that anyone can nominate and schools, headteachers, teaching assistants, learning partners and school governors can all be nominated for an award. Judging teams, which include TA fellows from the past decade and sponsors, visit scores of classrooms and meet hundreds of pupils, parents and governors, all supporting their endorsed nominations, in order to decide on winners.
However, the success of the Awards relies heavily on the generosity of sponsors as the trust is funded entirely through sponsorships and grants. We at Europc believe that these awards give hope to parents, teachers and pupils alike and so offered our support by sponsoring the Teaching Awards in 2004. We share the vision that teachers can transform lives and help young people realise their potential and are proud to be associated with the awards.
We strongly believe that computers are a fundamental learning aid and of massive importance to education. Europc are dedicated to providing access to lower cost as new brand name equipment.
Fastrack 100
Fast Track 100 ranks Britain's hundred private companies with the fastest growing sales over the last three years.
Fast Track was founded in 1997 by Dr Hamish Stevenson as part of his research fellowship in entrepreneurship sponsored by Virgin at Templeton College, Oxford University - where he now holds an associate fellowship. Their league tables have spotted many success stories long before they floated, such as chip designer ARM and Carphone Warehouse. They have also helped raise the profile of smaller companies such as Cobra Beer, Sophos, Travelex, and Dyson.
Despite concerns over the state of Britains economy at the time, companies on the 2002 league table of Britains one hundred fastest-growing unquoted companies had on average doubled sales every year and had collectively created over 28,000 new jobs since 1998.
Sir Richard Branson, chairman of Virgin Atlantic, who are title sponsors of the research, commented: Small companies built on sound business principles will survive the toughest of economic conditions. The employment generated by the Fast Track 100 companies has been significant over the past twelve months at a time when our quoted companies have collectively shed more than 100,000 jobs.
Europc ranked 5th (2002) and 15th (2003) respectively in the Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 league table. To add to this success, Europc was also named the fastest growing company in Scotland.
The Sunday Times Fast Track List 2002
- Fastest Growing Scottish Company
- 5th Place in the UK's Top 100 Companies 2002
- 15th place in the Fast Track 100 List 2003
